Michael Dane spent over ten years as an officer in Customs and Excise’s National Investigation Service investigating drug trafficking, VAT fraud and smuggling of all kinds.

He later re-trained as a lawyer and joined the private sector where he spent nearly twenty years investigating fraud and corruption in locations as varied as Kazakhstan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and Doncaster.

He is retired and can be found wandering the lanes and byways of the Vale of Belvoir with his faithful retriever Scout at his heels thinking of perfidy, deceit and plot devices.

The Rutland Connection is the first in his Frank McBride series of novels. The second, The Rutland Identity, will be published in Spring 2024.
