Description

This is a story of adventure, romance and cultural history.

It’s a story of travel to many parts of the world; performances for TV, in iconic sports arenas, private performances in Presidential palaces and for Royalty across several continents.

Smell the aroma of old paint and sawdust mixed with horse dung and greasepaint make up. Experience the highs and lows, and immerse yourself in difficult and even tragic, happenings that were the prelude to the success of an act that intrigued and entertained for more than forty years.

Mike Sanger invites you to become a part of his story; sharing his highs and lows to become immersed in the emotions of a life in show-business shared with his wife, and the beloved dogs that made it all possible.

Mike Sanger was born into a sixth-generation circus family; his great-great-great grandfather was ‘Lord’ George Sanger, the celebrated Victorian showman. Mike’s early career entailed horse training with Circus Krone in Germany, and at twenty-seven he decided to revive the dog act that his father had made famous internationally under the name of ‘Old Regnas’ (Regnas being the inversion of Sanger). He has taken his act to many stages; worked in most branches of show business, including films and television shows worldwide. Amongst his numerous famous audience members are Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco, Sean Connery and Cary Grant, and HRH Hassan II – the King of Morocco. Mike lives with his wife Pascale and seven dogs in Normandy France. He continues to train and perform.

I read the book with much pleasure. It's like your hearing Mike telling te story's ! It's written in a very lively style and you can picture everything in your mind. Striking is also the way its hounest about showbizz: he doesn't leaves a part out. Also the lows in his career and the doubts are told as they are. A very nice book that you want to finish when start reading it !

I have just finished reading this wonderful book. What an insight into a very foreign world. I was absolutely captivated from the first page and found the love and care of the animals so heartwarming. Surely there is a sequel to come as I’m certain there is more to this story. A very entertaining read!
