“The perfect accompaniment to Wendy’s first book for kids. Vital information and advice is delivered in the same refreshing and informative style to help parents keep their children and dog safe from each other as they build a wonderful relationship…” – Prof. Peter Neville, Director, Centre of Applied Pet Ethology (COAPE)

Hey Dog! Sniffs are for Feet! is the companion book to Hey Dog! Let’s Talk! Aimed at parents, ‘Sniffs’ helps the average pet owner to deal with the potential difficulties in introducing a small child into a household with a dog or visa-versa.

Divided into four chapters with several sections in each, the book approaches the topic beginning with pregnancy then moving through arrival of the baby, the toddler in the house and finally, the growing child. It covers the importance of safety in the home and raising your child to show consideration and respect toward the canine member of the family. Remembering the needs of the dog is also an important theme that runs through the book.

Using gentle humour in the form of cartoons and written with practicality in mind, ‘Sniffs’ doesn’t preach or lay down rules but presents options to consider in a way the author hopes will increase safety and save some anxiety in the lives of all – the parent, the child and the dog.

Wendy Keefer grew up in the countryside of Colorado, where she developed a love for all animals, wild and domestic. She dreamed of becoming a vet but instead moved to Alaska to study wildlife biology. Wendy moved to York, England – where she lives with her partner and two black Labradors. She has a CAPBT diploma in the Practical Application of Companion Animal Behaviour and Training  and is also an approved instructor with WaggaWuffins Canine College. Wendy now does behaviour consultations for dogs and cats and specialises in promoting safe dog/child relationships. Her first book, Hey Dog! Let’s Talk! was published in 2018.
