Yvonne Rogers started to investigate Adelina Patti after finding evidence to suggest that she was her great grandmother. Though Yvonne has no proof of this, she has found several letters and pointers that indicate this to be true.
The book begins by tracing Adelina’s childhood, including a brief history of her family and her first success as a child prodigy in a family of opera singers and musicians. Later chapters follow Adelina as she marries and travels, performing at multiple concerts and earning huge fees at the height of her career.
