Villains in the Night

28 Nov 2021

It should have been simple.

Fly from Moscow to London, help steal from some Prince, fly back home and get paid.

For Florentina, a bored, lonely art student, it's a chance to clear some debts and take a step towards starting a new life. A chance at a new friendship with the beautiful, mercurial Taisia.

The two women encounter Alexander: handsome and coldhearted; and Mikhail, the mysterious, taciturn mercenary in charge of planning the operation.

When best laid plans go awry, Mikhail finds himself torn between conflicting loyalties, to Alexander, to the mission, and to what he knows is right.

Villains in the Night is an exhilarating journey into the dark heart of the Instagram era.

Dominic Cookman currently works in Canberra, Australia, as a migration lawyer having graduated in Law and Economics from the Australian National University. He has previously been published in local legal publications on professional development topics. He was born in Reading, England. Dominic has a particular interest in disability issues, having been born with a disability himself. Fascinated by the paradoxes of the social media era wherein we are both more ‘connected’ and more isolated than ever, in writing his debut novel Villains in the Night, Dominic seeks to explore the mindset of a man who feels like he has come too far and burnt too many bridges to ever be thought of as a good person.
