When a poison pen letter arrives for housekeeper Katherine Ashley, accusing her of 'living in sin' with her elderly employer, the quiet lives of the residents of Selly Wood are thrown into turmoil, for the anonymous letter-writer is also a murderer. The deaths of three young women over the last 15 years are now looked at in a fresh light, and when the doctor's wife is strangled, it looks as if the killer is on the loose again.
