So You Want to be a Space Alien

When Charlotte chooses Joseph as her new cat, she knows he has style and charisma: being a Burmese, such things are inevitable. What she does not know is that he is no ordinary cat: in fact, he is not a cat at all, but an extra terrestrial whose people made a mistake in thinking that cats were the most intelligent life form on Earth - hence his disguise.

Charlotte helps the alien - whose name is Zioc - to assume human form, so that he can be a boy, or a cat, as the moment requires. And she discovers that he has been sent to Earth to find and bring back an object known as the Calling Stone. However, he has been poorly briefed, as he has no idea where the Stone might be, what it looks like or how it will help to save his planet. All he knows is that he has one month to find it, and if he fails he and his people will be destroyed.

So begins a frustrating and clandestine hunt for the Stone, in which Charlotte begins to wonder if she might not have been better off with that little white kitten her sister liked so much at the cat sanctuary ‚Ä¶
