Peace in War? War in Peace!

Ask any World War Two veteran for their memories and they are bound to have many that are too painful to share. Ken Tout, who served with the 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry at the D-Day landings, and is the author of eight military history books, here uses poetry as the medium to explore the long-lasting effects of war on the body and the mind.

Vivid memories of burnt-out tanks, fallen soldiers and searing battles are brought to the fore in poignant verse. Here are reflections on the author?s own experiences in Normandy and Holland, shot through with his early Christian faith, but showing how seeds of doubt sown in wartime can produce problems later in life.

Tout?s career has been dedicated to serving others, firstly as a minister of religion in Latin America and southern Africa, then on international charity programmes for the elderly ? a career begun in war and concluded in peace. But can there ever be peace without war?
