Old Scrapefoot and the Three Bears
We all know the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It was written by the poet Robert Southey. But his story is based on a much earlier one written by a Frenchman, and, according to his account, it wasn't Goldilocks who ate up the Little Bear’s porridge, it was a bad old fox called Scrapefoot. And he was Big Trouble. When dear old Henny Haveitall, who regularly laid an egg for Little Bear’s breakfast, disappeared, it was bad enough, but the final straw was Little Bear’s ruined birthday tea. Scrapefoot’s card was well and truly marked. How did the three bears take their revenge? It's a long, funny, and, in the end, rather gruesome story, but in every way enchanting.
It is for all those children who have grown too big for The Three Bears but are missing them badly.
