No More Sea

No More Sea
Incarcerated for a murder she cannot recall committing, Madeleine is drawn inexorably back to the scene of the crime upon her release. In this dark psychological mystery, taboos are broken, trust betrayed, and the vengeful Furies of legend play havoc.

Madeleine is convinced that the remote clifftops of Cornwall hold a key that will unlock her memory. One by one, terrible secrets are unveiled. As Madeleine uncovers more about her mother?s past, her own memories start to return ? horrific memories which she has kept buried at great cost to herself and those around her.

The sea is the ever-present backdrop to this drama of retribution, both literally, as the waves crash below the Cornish cliffs, and as a metaphor for the gulf of misunderstanding that can exist between people who love one another.

With the revelation of two more deaths, Madeleine realises nothing is what it seems. Murder, suicide or tragic accident? Nothing is clear. And everywhere there are ghosts ? a long-lost love immortalised in art, mysterious silhouettes on a cliff edge glimpsed against a storm-lashed sky. And always, the shadowy Furies watch over Madeleine, waiting patiently for their moment.

From whodunnit to Greek Tragedy!

An excellent novel, very well written and constructed, that had me hooked from the outset. I didn't put it down until I had finished it. Set mostly in Cornwall, I felt as if was there throughout. Characters were well developed and plausible. I will not reveal the story line so as not to spoil the anticipation for others. I will admit it was uncomfortable in places, which is probably no bad thing as it shocked me out of complacency when reading. I can tell you it ranges from whodunnit through psychological thriller to Greek Tragedy.
