Leaky tells the story of a couple who meet, fall in love and, within only a few years, face not the bright future they had anticipated but the possibility of being separated for ever. With admirable candour, the author traces his young wife?s fight against cancer, from first diagnosis, through treatment and finally the harrowing period of her debilitating last days and her death in 2005. More than anything, the book reminds us that cancer is more than a disease: it is, for all those who have to face it in their lives, a personal tragedy, and not just for those suffering from the condition. Richard Harry?s account raises the issues that everyone must face in such a situation: guilt, despair, hope, helplessness and, above all, fear.
