Inspired by my Father

Poetry has always been an important part of Jane Harrop’s family life, from learning to love it through her father, James Fisher’s poems, to penning her own. In this volume Jane has collected poems that reflect father and daughter’s shared interests, and illustrate the parent-child relationship from different perspectives. James Fisher’s poems to his daughter are answered by Jane’s contemplations on their relationship, and the poems show how family ties cross boundaries of time and distance, even of death. As Jane’s role moves from daughter to mother, love and loss are intermingled in her verses written for her children, as they grow up and fly the nest.
