Coup
We are in the Britain of the later twenty-first century. The world is changing. Britain is now part of a Federal Europe, its political leaders absent, playing politics in Brussels. Back home the anti-terrorism legislation has created a climate of fear in which extremism has flourished. Resurgent Fascism, rampant nationalism and aggressive racism threaten the very fabric of traditional British society. Violence is endemic. Black and Asian Britons are attacked openly in the street. A new Nationalist political party is taking over national and local government. Society is spinning out of control, with the police impotent and the army unwilling to get involved. Mark Shortley, ex-army, ex-SAS, now a freelance security expert, is engaged by powerful men opposed to the extremists to play the dangerous undercover game of infiltrating the Nationalist party hierarchy to learn their secret agenda. To do this he must endanger not only his own life, but also that of his beautiful, but damaged, Nigerian lover, Janine. The leaders of the Nationalists - the bragging, demagogic magnate, Lord Markhame, his beautiful, oversexed and vicious wife, Sarah, and the sinister fixer, Duncan Cox – are a powerful force to reckon with, but they must be defeated if democratic society is to be saved.
