Bonne Chance
Richard Bishop and his friends Alan and Faye fell in love with the south of France while on a long holiday in Nice, and they went on to sell up in the UK and buy a dilapidated ?Mas?, or manor house, with the intention of running it as a small private hotel. All three defied their pensioner status to do much of the renovating themselves, which soon earned them the respect of their French neighbours.
Once the hotel was up and running, guests came back time and again, and often turned into long-term friends. Among their neighbours and friends Richard, Alan and Faye were proud to include the actress, film producer and author Mai Zetterling, who features in many of Richard?s amusing anecdotes.
His funny and touching memoir Bonne Chance features a large cast, many of whom were eccentric, some of whom were tragic figures, none of whom would ever forget their time at Le Mas Pradel.
