A Cat with a Difference
Mugwumps is a fishmonger's cat, and he shares his home with three other felines – Felicity and Princess A-Moy are true pedigree cats, and they put on all the expected airs and graces; Queenie is less well-bred but kinder, and she's the boss. She tries her best to stand up for Mugwumps whenever the others bully him, which happens almost every day. For Mugwumps is a cat with a difference, and that is for him a very big problem.
Even his friend Blackie can't persuade Mugwumps that he is a lovable cat just the way he is. Then one day Blackie sees a dog behaving very strangely outside the door of the museum opposite the public garden patch which they have made their own. What can have put that dog in such a flurry? Blackie bravely decides to find out, and the result is a unique adventure that finally proves to Mugwumps that being different is not to be despised.
